Tom Farin
CEO & President

Thomas A. Farin is a widely known banking industry lecturer and consultant.  He has delivered national educational programs for the American Bankers Association and the Credit Union National Association.  He serves on the faculty of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin and has served as faculty of the CUNA Management School in Madison WI.  Mr. Farin has also been a featured speaker at a number of regional programs sponsored by state and regional trade associations.

Mr. Farin is the author of three separate books on financial institution asset-liability management, as well as a popular asset-liability newsletter.  Farin & Associates is best known for using technology and education to help community banks develop and implement retail strategies. 

Mr. Farin advises banks, thrift institutions, credit unions, and Federal Home Loan Banks across the country.  Prior to starting Farin & Associates, Inc. in 1985, Mr. Farin spent 10 years with a regional bank holding company where he was involved in retail and commercial banking, electronic funds transfer and management information systems.

Mr. Farin holds a B.S. degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin.

Dave Koch
Chief Operating Officer

David W. Koch is an industry lecturer and consultant for the financial institution industry.  He has delivered educational programs for national and state industry trade groups, in addition to several Federal Home Loan Banks and Corporate Credit Unions.  He serves on the faculty of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin and has served as faculty of the CUNA Management School in Madison WI. 

Since joining Farin in 1993, Mr. Koch has been a frequent speaker on asset/liability and interest rate risk management to financial executives across the country.  In addition to the speaking roles, Mr. Koch consults with financial executives to help find creative solutions to their business challenges. 

Prior to joining FARIN, Mr. Koch worked with a Midwestern consulting firm, assisting financial institutions in the development of asset-liability procedures, policies and measurement systems.

Mr. Koch earned his B.S. degree in Economics at Eastern Illinois University, in Charleston, IL.

Chris Acker
Senior Vice President

Christopher A. Acker has delivered educational programs on asset/liability management for major banking industry schools and conferences across the country.  Mr. Acker helped to develop FARIN’s propriety income simulation models, SAM and FORESIGHT, which are currently used by over 600 financial institutions.  He actively consults with current and prospective customers.

Mr. Acker has served on the faculty of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin and on the faculty at the CUNA Management School in Madison WI.

Prior to joining FARIN, Mr. Acker spent eleven years in retail banking as an assistant branch manager and as a developer in information technology.

Darryl Mataya
Chief Development Officer

Darryl Mataya is Chief Development Officer at FARIN where he is responsible for all product development activities. Darryl joined Farin in 1995 as a co-founder of FARIN’s CyFi Internet division (currently FARIN Web Services).

Mr. Mataya has an extensive background in bank automation, software development, web development, and the electronic delivery of financial services; he holds a patent on matching loan product and borrower profile information electronically.

Prior to joining FARIN, Mr. Mataya was Vice President with Financial Technology (now part of Open Solutions, Inc.), a Chicago-based software vendor to the financial industry. In 1995, he and Tom Farin, president of FARIN, recognized the significant role that the Internet was about to play in banking - and so began the web services division.

Mr. Mataya is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota and later received an MBA from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

Kim Rickard
Chief Financial Officer

S. Kim Rickard is responsible for managing the overall Financial and Accounting operations of the company.  He has served on the faculty of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.

Prior to joining Farin in 2000, Mr. Rickard spent 26 years in banking where he served as Chief Financial Officer for two financial institutions in Madison, Wisconsin. 

Mr. Rickard has served as the president of Wisconsin Chapter of the Financial Managers Society, the Madison Chapter of the Institute of Financial Education and a community organization.

Mr. Rickard received his Associate Degree in Business Administration and Accounting/Finance from Madison Area Technical College, Madison, Wisconsin and has completed additional training/education at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in Quality Management, and many other financial and leadership classes.
